How to Notflix

Everything you need to know about your new media portal.

How does all this work?

Notflix is a collection of tools working together. Plex is the media player, Overseerr handles your requests, and this dashboard ties it all together with status updates and guides.

Is it free?

Yes. This is my personal media collection, and sharing it with friends and family does not cost anything. I enjoy maintaining the server as a hobby.

Note: While the media is free, I do not make the Plex software. Occasionally, Plex may require a one-time 'Plex Pass' purchase for their mobile apps, or a subscription for certain advanced features. This is outside of my control.

Where can I watch?

Plex is available on almost every device: Smart TVs, Streaming Boxes (Apple TV, Nvidia Shield, Roku, FireStick), Gaming Consoles, Mobile Devices, and Web Browsers (app.plex.tv).

🚀 Pro-Tip: Best Quality & No Buffering

By default, Plex often lowers quality to save bandwidth, which causes the server to work harder (transcoding) and might lead to buffering.

The 'Direct Play' Rule:

  1. Go to Settings in your Plex app.
  2. Find Quality or Video.
  3. Set Remote Quality to 'Original' or 'Maximum'.
  4. Enable Allow Direct Play and Direct Stream.

This ensures you get the full 4K/HDR experience without the server needing to convert the file on the fly!

How to request content

Use the Overseerr link on the dashboard. Log in with your Plex account, find a movie or show, and hit 'Request'. I'll get a notification and the server will grab it automatically.

Pinning your libraries

When you first join, the Notflix libraries might be hidden in the 'More' menu. To fix this, go to the sidebar, find the libraries (Movies, TV Shows), and click the 'Pin' icon so they stay on your home screen.
